Amy Grant Spirit Path
Trail named after Amy Grant

Area residents and tourists in the Iowa Great Lakes Region now have more trails to ride.  Construction was recently completed on a new trail on the west side of Big Spirit Lake.  This nearly half million dollar project was constructed with the help of a grant from the State of Iowa and was designed under the watchful eye of the Iowa Department of Transportation.  The contractor on the project was Howrey Construction of Rockwell City, Iowa.

Plans are in the works for two additional trails along the west and south sides of West Okoboji Lake as well.

Richard Hopper, Director of Engineering for Jacobson-Westergard & Associates, visits with Amy Grant at the bike trail dedication on June 22, 2007, that runs along the west side of Big Spirit Lake.  Rick was the project manager for this project and the other trail projects currently in the works on the west and south sides of West Okoboji Lake.
