What is GPS?
Global Positioning System (GPS) is a fast and accurate method of determining the
location of any point anywhere on the face of the earth at any time during the
day or night, 365 days per year. The technology collects and processes
signals from 24 satellites that orbit the earth to determine the location
of points of interest on the ground. GPS was introduced for use in military
operations as a navigation and timing system. It has quickly advanced to
become one of the leading and most popular methods of surveying.
